Hi guys,

here are the facts

I'm an international student (Indian) who has been granted admission into CMU, UMICH (Ann Arbor) and Georgia Tech for the MS program ( I applied for an MS in ECE with communication (systems) as my preference)

I've been granted admission into Umich EECS:Systems.

I've been granted admission into Gatech - again for communication as my major. but i've been granted admission into the campus at Lorraine, France. I pay in-state tuition fees and cost of living is real low. Also, I can transfer to the campus at Atlanta after one semester

CMU's offered me admission into the MSIT-ESE (Masters in IT - Embedded Software Technology) which is a 16 month program - a joint venture between the CS and ECE depts. I will be specialising in embedded systems - both hardware and software based if i'm correct.

I'm in a dilemma - which college do i choose! I mean from the whole package - cost of attendance + job opportunities + quality of education + place and standard of life and everything else.. I have to make a decision real quick.. So could I please get some advice/?

Hey!

Congrats on getting into three prestigious schools! Whichever choice you go with will open up great future opportunities.

From what I see as your educational interests CMU seems to be the best school. Michigan campus is fun but the program not as good as CMU. As for Gtech if you decide to go DO not graduate from the french campus, make sure you will be able to transfer. But spending one semester in France is a sweet deal.

That's as far as someone like me can go, what you should do is start prioritizing. Which program is the most interesting? If they are almost tied, get that calculator and start figuring out total costs. Let that decide for you, because whichever is the cheapest you will not be comprimising anything as they are three TOP schools.

Hope you choose CMU as I am going there myself :)

cheers!

Oh and as far as places, I can give you some good input.

Gtech wins because you will have a semester in France, then see Atlanta. Atlanta is a nice city with a great culture.

Pittsburgh is also a very complete city and the best thing about is the ratio of how much of a city you get to the cost of living. High ratio!!

They both beat michigan. Ann arbor is one of the nicest college towns in the US but that's it. Still a good choice in terms of living but relative to the two others it can't win. UNLESS you really don't care about being in a city and a warm complete college town would suffice. These things are extremely relative, and thats where the domestic students have the advantage they have a better picture of places to live, let alone can actually visit them.

Hope this helps!
