ourladyflowers Posted May 22, 2011 Posted May 22, 2011 Hello everyone, maybe someone can advice me on this. I was admitted into PhD Chem at SUNY Buffalo, when I received my I-20 however, it says there provisional admission and they are asking me to bring my final transcripts for my MS degree. Are they expecting me to finish my MS degree in my home country? The letter of acceptance did not say anything about it but in the I-20 it says I may not be able to register without the final transcripts. I am asking because I might not be able to get my MS degree, does this mean they will revoke my admission? Thanks!
fuzzylogician Posted May 22, 2011 Posted May 22, 2011 You need to contact the school and ask. We can't tell you for certain what the answer is. In general PhD programs in the US do not require a Masters but your program may be different and there is just no way for us to know. I would think that the people in charge of issuing the I-20 and the people who decide on admissions are not the same and if the admissions people didn't require the degree then you'll be fine, but this is too important to trust an internet forum with. Ask your department and/or the international student office directly.
ourladyflowers Posted May 22, 2011 Author Posted May 22, 2011 Thanks fuzzylogician! I have actually sent an e-mail to my department and now I'm just awaiting their reply. I would also contact the international office and hope they can enlighten me regarding the matter.
