lotf629 Posted January 1, 2009 Posted January 1, 2009 Joel418, I really doubt that Ivies will toss out your app because of that AW score. Not to discount your concerns, just to encourage you: even English programs take the AW with a grain of salt.
Joel418 Posted January 2, 2009 Posted January 2, 2009 Thanks lotf I must admit, I'm somewhat intimidated by the Harvard crowd that I've met to this point. Princeton actually seems like a good group, but I've always perceived a notion that I'm not "Harvard material". Of course, I felt that way about the school where I did my Master's, and obviously that worked out!
grex Posted January 2, 2009 Posted January 2, 2009 Bogfrog: I'm pretty sure that spacing doesn't matter. I got a 6 without indentation. Teaching a prep class just means you teach a prep class, it doesn't mean you've graded anything. And there's nothing on the GRE website or the instructions on the GRE itself to indicate spacing matters.
grex Posted January 2, 2009 Posted January 2, 2009 Also, grading isn't supposed to be done by criteria. It's done holistically. They read it, get an overall impression of your arguments, and assign you a number. No checkboxes or anything.
