chymps Posted June 9, 2011 Posted June 9, 2011 Has anyone ever done this? I am thinking about this, and am wondering if others have made the move with success. I feel lost and ignored in my current CHYMPS department, like no faculty members are willing to pay attention to me or care. I'm thinking about applying to transfer to another department during this fall's admission cycle. I'm thinking that a transfer to a department where faculty don't consider themselves "too good" for grad students would be beneficial to me. Zahar Berkut and s58 1 1
Zahar Berkut Posted June 13, 2011 Posted June 13, 2011 I can't speak from experience, but I think this thread deserves comments from someone with experience transferring. All I can think to ask you is this: can you be sure that you'll get the attention and guidance you want at any program, be it CHYMPS, top 10, 30, or otherwise? And have you talked to your peers at your program to better understand how they've been managing in an environment that puts a premium on independence?
