nehs Posted July 1, 2011 Posted July 1, 2011 I had got 3 copies of the LOR from my recommender. I used up two and I had one with me. So I opened it up, just to see what she wrote(I did not need anymore). And, to my surprise, my recommender had taken photocopies of the letter and out it in there. I have submitted this same letter in my application and I had no issues. But ,my question is : do recommenders do this? I'm little annoyed that this lady prints out only one letter and then photo-copies it two times and then puts it in the envelope.
Teelee Posted July 2, 2011 Posted July 2, 2011 (edited) It really depends on who is doing the writing. One of my LOR writer was a very strong believer about writing a great letter and tweaking it to have a good fit (grant proposal vs grad school, so on) so he would always print out new copies of the letter each and every time. My other writer was way too lazy and wrote a summary of my resume without any formatting (filled with spelling errors and spacing issues) and asked me to look over it. I took the time to polish up that letter. My third writer wrote a very generic one and printed one copy to sign. I ended up with multiple copies of that letter but it didn't bother me as much because the first two letters were more than enough. I guess as long as the letter has a signature to validate it, I guess it's alright? Edited July 2, 2011 by Teelee
studentaffairsgrad Posted July 8, 2011 Posted July 8, 2011 I agree, it should be fine as long as it has a signature. Wouldn't it require less time and effort to just print of 3 copies, rather than print off one copy, then walk to the copier and make copies?
