biogirl84 Posted December 7, 2008 Posted December 7, 2008 (1) I was a biology major, with major GPA 3.70 and lower overall GPA (due to bad grades in freshman classes); 4.00 for the last 1.5 years. (2) I meet all math requirements, and I have all As in these classes. (2) Lots of research experience - 3 labs as undergrad, now working in research. One project was computational biology. (3) But I have bad GRE Scores! I took the GRE more than once and my scores are very inconsistent. I got a high verbal and a high quantitative score but not in the same test. (4) I graduated from a decent public university but not "top" anything, since I couldn't afford to pay tuition and I got a full scholarship for this one. Should I bother applying for the only BME program in my state (which in the top 5) or go for an out-of-state program?
biogirl84 Posted December 9, 2008 Author Posted December 9, 2008 P.S. Finally got high scores for both sections in the same test this week. So now my GRE scores are 630V 790Q.
rising_star Posted January 6, 2009 Posted January 6, 2009 What have you got to lose? Apply to the program in-state and others out of state to give yourself a good shot of getting in somewhere.
DanielEdwards Posted January 14, 2009 Posted January 14, 2009 In my opinion you should apply for your state and out of state also.
