sabdo Posted July 24, 2011 Posted July 24, 2011 Hi, I just graduated from UCSD in Chem E and I started working as an RA in a startup in San Diego. The company does research in cathode and electrolyte material discovery. Anyways, I'm applying for an MS in chem E and BME programs and was wondering if my research in the company is going to be valued as much as in the academic level. Now, I've done research at school for different professors however, I would have worked longer in my company's lab than any other. So, help me out guys, is my industry level research going to be just as valued as the rest of my research?
dnt4gett Posted October 15, 2011 Posted October 15, 2011 if you are working more in the company and having research at the best glance then company will appriciate you because company wants just devotion of work and as you said you have done research more than anyone in the company so hope good i think you will be satisfied with the work. ktel Posted October 15, 2011 Posted October 15, 2011 Right...that was helpful? I've noticed engineering in particular tends to partner with industry a lot, so I would think that they would therefore value the research you're doing in industry just as well as that in academia. Academia is a place for more 'out-there' research, but it's still financially driven.
