I have recently been accepted to the Masters in Scientific Computing at NYU. However, I'm unable to find out about how competative this program is. It's hellah expensive, and I have a feeling most master's programs are just for cash as perhaps the research contribution is less.

I feel like I could definitely get a fellowship or some assistance at another university. For instance KAUST in Saudi Arabia has a pretty nice deal, good faculty, but it's relatively new and probably not as prestigious as Courant.

So the question is, do they let just anyone into this program or what? Can I get a good job after graduating?

I feel the answer to the first question is probably no. The last question, not so sure.

As a side note, I spoke to two people that got into NYU recently. One of them came from my school and is doing a masters in psychology at NYU. His average was 75/100. My average was 86.88 (which after conversion becomes 3.77). So I don't want to be put in the same academic group as him, know what i mean? Oh, by the way I have BS in Math, minor Physics. And I do truly love scientific computing, I'm looking for something that involves a little more creativity and visualization than theorem-proof mathematics (and perhaps less tough too *nervous laughter*), and that is hands on, with computers.
