I was talking to a post-doc fellow at my Hopkins internship, and she told me that most of her schools paid for the costs of traveling to interviews. Is that mostly true? I hadn't heard that before.

It definitely depends upon the field. I think it's more common in the sciences. Also, I think it is dependent upon if an interview is required, and on how bad they want you :-)

Most of the big programs in the humanities reimburse or partial reimburse for travel to interviews. Then again, a lot of programs in the humanities don't even do interviews.

Yes all biomedical programs pay for your travel costs, hotel costs, transportation costs and meal costs. I can only think of a handful of a places that don't do interviews and those ones have "recruitment weekends" which are effectively the same thing without the stress of potentially getting cut after the interview.

Does anyone know whether any of the Biology/Biomed grad programs offer to pay for international students' airfare to attend interviews? I read somewhere that MIT might do that but couldn't find that anywhere again. In any case, if MIT invites me to an interview, the airfare will seem completely insignificant :P
