  1. lol I've spent some amount in the 700s, I think. Ridiculous!
  2. I have a non-live-in long-term boyfriend, and I'm sure going to miss him when/if I move away for school.
  3. I took a year off to figure things out.
  4. I envy you! I am terrified of my interviews- probably because I'm incredibly shy and awkward. I always walk away from meetings (especially with professors) thinking, "Why did I just say that?" Hahaha. So, yeah, I'd rather not have to endure the embarrassment! Ah well. It's good for me to talk to faculty before making decisions too obviously.
  5. Hm. And I was planning on wearing my hair in a ponytail to my formal interviews (while dressed in appropriate clothes for, say, a job interview). I think that a ponytail can look classy, so I'm not sure why it would harm your chances at impressing people... then again, I've never done this before.
  6. Of course I don't mind. I applied to U of Chicago, Yale, U of Mich, SUNY Buffalo, Indiana U, and Eastman. I have interviews at Indiana and Eastman. They might have notified me so early, though, because they had December 1st deadlines. Maybe your schools' due dates were just later? Still, I think that mid-January is too soon to worry, but then again, I understand why you are freaking out. I was surprised when those schools notified me of interviews as early as they did (IU emailed me in mid-December and Eastman in early January). I expected to hear something in February, though. Anyway, I'll let you know if/when I hear from the other schools. Good luck to you.
  7. I'm also applying to theory programs. I've gotten a couple of interviews and I'm waiting on the rest... but I'm very nervous! Ah, good times.
  8. I was invited to interview somewhere, but the school is not paying for ANY of the travel expenses. *sigh* It's gonna be expensive...
  9. I also had typos in my apps--and I proofread the essays/writing samples several times. Let's hope it's not a serious issue!
  10. For those of you that haven't seen that message-- that's strange, because the department websites of half the schools to which I'm applying state explicitly that applicants should not contact admissions to check on supplemental materials.
