i will (most likely) be attending the Bloustein School in the fall. I don't know anyone in NJ/NY, so if any of y'all want to contact me, feel free!

ah, that sucks, i'm sorry --

if it makes you feel any better, they accepted only 1 person last year -- and it wasn't going to be many more than that this year. so don't take it personally.

good luck!

Hi, I think I'm going to attend the Bloustein School too. Is anyone going to their open house/admit day? I've never been to the campus (New Brunswick one)... any thoughts about the area?

Yes, I am attending the open house. I've never been to New Jersey before, so this trip will be very interesting.

Political Science for me. I'm supposed to go visit the first weekend of April, but with airline tickets reaching into the 500 - 600 dollar range this is becoming less and less of a possibility.

At my current school (undergrad) there is a strong presence of student organizations and political involvement for different causes. Unfortunately, the grad and law students never really participate in our clubs or activities. Does this sort of disconnect exist at Rutgers? Do the grad students sort of keep to themselves, or do they interact a lot with the undergrads? (I'm considering attending the Bloustein School, and it seems like it is sort of cut off, geographically at least, from the majority of the other parts of the university... so maybe there is a greater disconnect between Bloustein students and undergrads anyway.)

I'm interested if anyone can answer this based on personal experience or what they observed while visiting...

I applied for the PhD program of Chemical and Biochemical Engineering of Rutgers University. Now, all of the offers have sent out and I did not get one maybe because I submitted my application too late. I hope anyone, who don't want to go to Rutgers, reject the offer as soon as possible. In addition, I applied the Biomedical Engineering program of this university and the status is still "no decision".

I think that the kind of "disconnect" you mentioned between undergrads and grad students is pretty ubiquitous. It makes sense because of the obvious differences in maturity, schedule, workload, etc, in addition to the fact that you will be TAing these kids. Also, undergrads are still *usually* dependents whereas most grad students are fully on their own financially - this may not seem like a big deal, but I think it marks a fundamental change in the way people think of themselves and others.
