convex Posted February 2, 2009 Posted February 2, 2009 It's cool. I would rather have not heard from any schools yet.
jackassjim Posted February 2, 2009 Posted February 2, 2009 Here is how I'm getting by: http://flashgamesite.com/play1085game.html Man! Thanks for that!
DrRockso Posted February 2, 2009 Posted February 2, 2009 Arrived home to find a small envelope from Texas A&M...that contained instructions for setting up my "NetID", for checking my application status. I think they're just screwing with me, now.
AllFiredUp Posted February 2, 2009 Posted February 2, 2009 UVA decisions will be out later this week. Files were just turned over to the Graduate School.
twright Posted February 2, 2009 Posted February 2, 2009 UVA decisions will be out later this week. Files were just turned over to the Graduate School. is this conjecture or fact?
spark25 Posted February 2, 2009 Posted February 2, 2009 is this conjecture or fact? Same question as well: where is the source coming from?
silhouette Posted February 2, 2009 Posted February 2, 2009 Hi PollyTheory, I am also in theory. We seem to have two schools in common, Northwestern and UCLA. I also applied to JHU, UCSB, UCSC, Cornell, WashU, University of Victoria, U Washington, CUNY and U Mass-Amherst. I am interested in contemporary pol theory so NW and JHU are my top choices. I also noticed that there aren't many theorists on this board so I was excited to hear from you. Good luck!
technocat Posted February 2, 2009 Posted February 2, 2009 I also noticed that there aren't many theorists on this board so I was excited to hear from you. Good luck! Another theory applicant here. Expanding our ranks to 3.
catchermiscount Posted February 3, 2009 Posted February 3, 2009 Another theory applicant here. Expanding our ranks to 3. Quantitative analysis from the theorists, ladies and gentlemen!!! And before I get accused of hating on the theorists for chasing unicorns: I think theorists are by far the smartest, and, given performance in my deparment (a top-20 methods place with a solid theory department), they are among the best at picking up methods. Don't be hatin'. And of course, good luck!

I think they're just screwing with me, now. that sort of happened to me too....i got that letter like 2 weeks ago, but then I got an email early last week with the same info, also telling me that the graduate school has received my application. i got my acceptance letter that friday. dont know what it means, but there it is
AllFiredUp Posted February 3, 2009 Posted February 3, 2009 is this conjecture or fact? Fact. ETA: Per source at the Politics program. I'd rather not get more specific than that.

Not sure what it all means, if anything, but sharing info's always a plus.
spark25 Posted February 3, 2009 Posted February 3, 2009 Fact. ETA: Per source at the Politics program. If this is true, everyone who applied to UVA will probably be getting an e-mail pretty soon. My guess is in the next couple of days.
convex Posted February 3, 2009 Posted February 3, 2009 Why does this AllFiredUp person have all kinds of spies everywhere? He seems to always have inside information. Edit: He or she. Sorry for the generic masculine.
AllFiredUp Posted February 3, 2009 Posted February 3, 2009 Some more reliable than others! However, anyone who doubts the veracity of my claim can PM me for more details. The source is very reliable--I promise.
spark25 Posted February 3, 2009 Posted February 3, 2009 Some more reliable than others! However, anyone who doubts the veracity of my claim can PM me for more details. The source is very reliable--I promise. Apologies but what does PM mean? Edit: I got it nevermind!
convex Posted February 3, 2009 Posted February 3, 2009 I wasn't questioning the reliability of your sources so much as wondering aloud how you developed such a network of operatives.
adaptations Posted February 3, 2009 Posted February 3, 2009 Well, I made it further with Duke than I did last year. Last year I was in the very first batch of rejections. At least this year I lasted an extra day... hopefully more To those who have heard good news, congratulations and best of luck with the rest of the cycle. To those with no or negative news, keep your head high. The excitement has just begun.
convex Posted February 3, 2009 Posted February 3, 2009 The first Tuesday of February was when the big wave of UCLA rejections came last year. Just sayin'...
natofone Posted February 3, 2009 Posted February 3, 2009 I bet we find out about UNC tomorrow. Just a guess...
catchermiscount Posted February 3, 2009 Posted February 3, 2009 natofone said: I bet we find out about UNC tomorrow. Just a guess... I'm with natofone - I bet UNC decisions come out today. WUSTLÂ wouldn't shock me, either.
poliscihopeful Posted February 3, 2009 Posted February 3, 2009 OSU this week - shouldn't surprise, they told me a long time ago that last week Jan/first week Feb would be when they throw out acceptances. Since they didn't want writing samples in the slightest, it makes sense they should be among the first. I smell UNC on the wind... but predict Duke next week.
plisar Posted February 3, 2009 Posted February 3, 2009 Very very quiet today...calm before the proverbial storm?
convex Posted February 3, 2009 Posted February 3, 2009 It's still pretty early here on the West Coast.
spark25 Posted February 3, 2009 Posted February 3, 2009 Very very quiet today...calm before the proverbial storm? Yes, very quiet in comparison to yesterday. Something is brewing or could be another day of worrying without finding out anything. Let's keep our fingers crossed!
