Angi Posted September 3, 2011 Posted September 3, 2011 Hey guys, I dont know how long are our answers expected in the analytical writing section. The official GRE webpage does not specify it at all. Considering the time we have, how many words should we aim for? Thanks!
dntw8up Posted September 3, 2011 Posted September 3, 2011 The ETS site contains examples of essays with each of the possible scores. Reading them will provide you with an idea of what's expected.
orst11 Posted September 4, 2011 Posted September 4, 2011 Like dntw8up mentions ETS does give samples for each possible score. You will tend to notice that typically you want a substantive essay but formatting, spelling, grammar and such are still important. For instance, if you just wrote one huge paragraph with an array of ideas you typically wouldn't score higher than 3 or 4 if that, but if the same amount of writing was formatted correctly you could expect a higher score.
