stackoverflow Posted September 27, 2011 Posted September 27, 2011 I'm generally unsure about the tone of my SoP when applying to CS PhD programs. Obviously I'm going to focus on research experience, but it's difficult to make an SoP personal when it is about a science rather than a humanities subject. There seems to be a lot more correlation between a person's personal life and their research interests when pursuing a humanities PhD, while the same (usually) cannot be said for a science PhD. Does anyone have any examples where an applicant was able to combine a strong statement of research interests with some personal dialogue? That's really my only problem with writing my SoP at the moment. Thanks!
