writerwill Posted October 31, 2011 Posted October 31, 2011 I'm torn between both programs! Medill is 12 months, and NYU is 2 years. But NYU allows me to do internships and is based in NYC, which is where I want to end up in. Which one do I pick?!
das126 Posted November 22, 2011 Posted November 22, 2011 (edited) I recently received a bachelor's from Medill, but I know many who've been through the Master's program. The school overall suffers from sustantial faculty turmoil and a deeply dysfunctional, disorganized administration. Because undergrads take 75% of their classes outside of Medill, the grad students seem to have it worse than we did. There are some good and a few great teachers (some of whom I can put you in touch with, if you'd like), but many of the best have been driven out or given up and resigned. This isn't to say that a Medill degree is worthless, though it might be depending on your career goals. Also, I'm not sure it's correct Medill doesn't allow you to do internships.
