How to calculate CGPA & GPA on a scale of 4.0

I have done my bachelors in Computer Science and applying for Master in the same stream. My under graduation score is 77.7%. I have done 4 year bachelor degree.

Can some body help me how to calculate CGPA & GPA on a scale of 4.0, specifically I'm applying to Canadian Universities.

Please help me.

Do you get letter grades? Or only a percentage?

you can submit your grades to www.wes.org and they will convert your GPA to the 4.0 scale. Plus, it's official. but it is slightly expensive.

Honestly, most schools do not require the CGPA because it can be deceiving (you can have very high or very low non-major grades). I am an international student and I just submitted my grade as is. If they require a CGPA, I just submit a score conversion scale from my universty so that the admissions committee can estimate my CGPA.

We can't really give you the "procedure" because the corresponding grades vary depending on your country and your school.

Actually , I have done a 4 year bachelors degree from India & my aggregate was 77.7% .

Now, I'm applying for a few Canadian Universities , where they need my under graduation percentage to be converted to CGPA. Because minimum requirement for applying is 3.2 CGPA out of 4.0.

Therefore I need to convert my percentage to CGPA before applying to desired Universities.

Can I apply unary method like ,

I got 77.7% out of 100%

So, from a scale of 4.0 I will get => (77.7* 4)/100= 3.108

Is the above method correct ??

No it doesn't work like that. Here is an example of a typical university grade distribution:

I would suggest you look at the grade you got in EACH course and attempt to convert it to a letter grade. Otherwise there are online resources that should be able to help you.

EDIT: In addition, you can contact the Canadian universities you're applying to and ask. Guaranteed they've encountered this before.
