misgengen Posted December 23, 2011 Posted December 23, 2011 Hi, I saw that many template CV included the prof's name that people work under. I worked for a year as RA under this professor and was not happy about the job so I quit. It didn't end quite well with the prof, but I ended up with another RA job that I loved. I am only an 4th year undergrad student, so that research job was an important part on my CV. Should I just omit the laboratory name or am I better off not include it at all, in case the schools check with this prof? I am quite sure that he will give me a terrible reference.
gellert Posted December 23, 2011 Posted December 23, 2011 (edited) Include it. You still had an experience there, and it still shaped you as a researcher. I doubt schools will seek that prof out for a reference when they already have three LORs to read, unless they happen to be close friends with that prof already ... in which case they will hear either way, no doubt. misgengen Posted December 24, 2011 Author Posted December 24, 2011 I doubt they knows each other as it was in a different field to what I am applying (main reason why I quit in the first place). But who knows, academia is a small world, and hopefully it won't come back to bite me.
