hphukan Posted January 10, 2012 Posted January 10, 2012 I applied for PhD programs in Materials Science and Engineering at Iowa State and Michigan State (Fall 2012). Does anyone know when these schools typically send out their admissions decisions? The anxiety is killing me. Thanks Harsha
wink_e Posted January 14, 2012 Posted January 14, 2012 I've applied for chem eng PhD at michigan state, which is in the same department as materials and also at iowa state and i've heard nothing yet either... not entirely sure when they start sending out decisions.

Snowqueen Posted January 14, 2012 Posted January 14, 2012 My friend received an offer Jan 12 for admission to the University of Washington PhD program in Materials Science. Neither of us have heard from an other programs.

hphukan Posted February 8, 2012 Author Posted February 8, 2012 @wink_e...I see you have received a response from Iowa State. Did they send out a letter by snail mail or did you receive an email with the decision? Thanks.

hphukan Posted February 17, 2012 Author Posted February 17, 2012 Received an invite to the Prospective Grad Students Weekend in March at Michigan State. Also had a phone conversation with a professor about an exciting research project! Nothing from Iowa State yet!
HassE Posted February 21, 2012 Posted February 21, 2012 I'm in the PhD ECE at University of Iowa, although it's not ranked extremely high (59), they're really making quite a few efforts to really expand their engineering program. I can really see in the next few years them slowly moving their way up the charts. If your interesting in Medical Imaging, I don't think many schools rival what they do. Having said all this, there growing their program so I expect many acceptances and very few rejections. There engineering building is also probably the nicest they have here as well. Good luck and if anyone has any questions, feel free to ask me.
