BodyStudiesPhD Posted February 2, 2009 Posted February 2, 2009 I've been accepted to the University of Kent in England where I would be studying with Chris Shilling. I'm from NYC and I am very hesitant to move to a super small town. Does any one know anything about Canterbury?
Astaroth Posted February 2, 2009 Posted February 2, 2009 You said it... "very small town". I have a friend who did his undergrad there, Film & Literature studies, if you are looking for small and quiet (REALLY quiet) then you will love it. Pretty much the diametrical opposite of NYC. As a university, I believe it is considered pretty good for humanities, but I'm not in your field so wouldn't know.
Dubya Posted February 4, 2009 Posted February 4, 2009 I've never been to Canterbury, but what I've heard it's lovely and despite being a small town, there is big student population...so while it certainly won't feel like NYC, it's not like your in the middle of South Dakota or something. Plus London is only 1.5 hours away if you need an escape! I am attending university in England at the moment and I'd say the best part about it is travel. During the winter months you can find dirt cheap flights around Europe. I'm flying to Dublin for St. Patty's Day and my roundtrip airfare was $20!!!
BodyStudiesPhD Posted February 4, 2009 Author Posted February 4, 2009 Thanks for the reply! Oh man, your St. Patty's Day trip sounds awesome!!
