Socio Posted February 5, 2009 Posted February 5, 2009 Hi Folks, What is the best course of action as far as responding to a funding offer this far out from April 15 and you still have quite a number of schools to hear from? Accept and wait or notify the department that you will make your decision before April 15? Soc

Accept and wait or notify the department that you will make your decision before April 15? Soc I'm not quite there yet, but I've been told and I've read on several FAQs on university sites that it's in very bad form to back out on an offer after you accepted it. I think it's best to wait until you're sure you want to go there.
Tritonetelephone Posted February 5, 2009 Posted February 5, 2009 Definitely wait until you've heard back from everybody. There's been some discussion about this on a board already: viewtopic.php?f=8&t=14753 EDIT/ADD: If you're lucky, you might even be able to use an offer from one school as leverage to increase your funding offer from another. Just another reason to wait.

Accept and wait or notify the department that you will make your decision before April 15? Soc Do not accept. Tell them that you're excited at the prospects of attending their program, that this is a very important decision for you, and that you will be in touch in the future when you have finished considering all of your options. They know that this is a crucial/stressful/life-changing decision and that you're probably mulling over a number of offers.
