KristinMSW Posted February 8, 2012 Posted February 8, 2012 Does anyone know what schools' policies are on deferring a year? I applied to DU, UW, and Portland State. I'm only really concerned with DU and UW though, PSU isn't my top choice. Just an option I've been considering... I haven't received any final admissions info yet though. The child welfare program at UW that i am applying to (that is my top choice) has a summer course requirement that I won't be able to do because of my current job. The director will maybe be flexible and allow me to do it another time, but I'm not certain because it's such a specific program and requirement. My job right now is through AmeriCorps, and I love it.. so deferring my MSW for a year could actually be great. Plus I would get another $5k on top of this year's to pay off my undergrad loans, so there's really a lot of advantages to deferring. Anybody know typically how schools handle this for MSWs??? Or do most people have to reapply?
roxyshoe Posted February 8, 2012 Posted February 8, 2012 I think it depends on each school's policy. But the fact that you are in AmeriCorps will definitely help! It is worth asking, but word it in the sense that you are considering it, not definitely want to defer.
