Yeah, east coast is what I meant, I just can't write I guess :-P I'm excited too. I'm going to Boston next week, so then I'll get some idea of what the open houses are like before we go to UCI. Have you been to any yet? I'm trying to figure out what to pack. Should I dress up, or do you think it will be casual?

Haven't been to any yet -- I've been talking with tons of people at Irvine though and the impression I get for that open house is that it's fairly casual. Since part of the open house includes a trip to the beach with our cohort...I imagine it's not going to be all that uptight!! I'd ask the graduate secretary for the school in Boston though what their dress might be, though.

So, you have received acceptances? I haven't heard anything from UCI yet. Did you get any funding?

yeah -- the results page indicates a few acceptances and funding. i'm not sure what the count will be like though at open house.

they have a list of admits who they are inviting for open house already. the thing that pisses me off about UCI is that they do not inform you whether you are rejected or not, until you email them and follow up

I did email them about a week or so ago and got this response:

"Faculty began making admission offers earlier this month. Decisions for all applicants will be announced through the web-based application tracker progressively in the coming weeks."

UCI does that to everyone. They wanna know if you have money. UC system is broke.

To socphd82... they don't have the list online. I currently go to UCI and saw the list through a friend.

For those that might still be waiting, this is what I recieved from the Graduate Coordinator:

"The Sociology faculty made first-round admission

decisions last month. We have not yet announced

decisions for anyone other than this initial group of

prospective students."

Good Luck everyone. Hang in there.
