Has anybody else been accepted to LSU's History program? I just heard back (got in) and now I'm waiting for two more schools but I think this may be the best fit. How about you?

I also got accepted into LSU's history program for the 2012 year. I see that you are in the Ph.D. program - I'm only in the M.A. since they have no direct Ph.D. admissions. I'm hoping to work with Drs. Marchand and Lindenfeld, although I've been accepted into a few other programs (WVU, TTU, Nebraska-Lincoln) and am waiting on 3 more, so I'm not sure if LSU is a sure thing.

Have you heard anything about funding yet? (Not details of course, but simply if you have heard anything)

Also, what's the general area of your study?

My wife and I just found out yesterday we were both wait listed for the PhD program at LSU. I wonder what the odds look like.

I see that you're are an Americanist based on your profile info. Is your wife also an Americanist? I've haven't heard from many of my co-Europeanists regarding LSU. Even most of the entries in the results survey seem to be Americanists or non-specific.

Did your contact at LSU give you any indication of the length of the waiting list? Hopefully some spots will open up for you two soon!

I may be going there this fall for physics. I am going this weekend for a visit. What area do you recommend for housing? Is the cost of housing high?

I'm very interested in info about the cost of living as well. I've been offered a stipend, but it's pretty low.

I know I may sound stupid but how did you find roommates when you don't know anyone in Baton Rouge? Thanks for your help.
