Hey, congrats to the person who got accepted to U. Missuori for the PhD in English!

Can you give us some details about how you found out, if they've accepted everyone yet, etc?

Posted

Also, does anyone have any information on when U. Missouri-Columbia will be notifying? All I got was "March 31 or earlier" even though historically it looks like they've notified more in late February.

Katy85, that was the same thing I got from the email, but you are right...last year the notifications went out in Feb. There is already one posted on the results survey :( , and I have not heard anything....good luck to you and me...hope we hear something (good) soon!

Hey Guys-- it was me. It took me a while to post because I knew how horrible the CUNY and Vanderbilt posts made me feel when I hadn't heard, and I think I got notified so early because I was nominated for a University wide fellowship. Either way, my official letter was put in the mail Monday. Good luck to all of you! I'm still waiting to hear from CUNY myself, but I didn't get a rejection either, so all is not lost! Best of luck and thanks for the good wishes.

Congrats Marlowe23, and thanks for letting us know (and for being sensitive). I thought it might have something to do with a fellowship. So you found out by postal mail...interesting and good to know!

Congratulation Marlowe23! That is great news...Good to see so many of you hearing good news... :)

Next 2 weeks are going to be tough for me :( ; I hope I hear some good news as well.

Hey again, I see another acceptance on the board from U. Missouri-Columbia.

Crazy how fast they're accepting people, since I emailed the DGS and she said the admissions committee met for the first time last week!

Hopefully they're spreading out the acceptances over a couple of weeks...I still have my fingers crossed for this one...

That was me. Got a call (voicemail, as I was teaching at the time) from the DGS, who said that the paperwork and official acceptance will follow via snail mail, but he wanted to just call and let me know. I am so relieved! Good luck, Katy. It seems as though there have only been 2 acceptances so far, and the first one was because of a university wide fellowship. Best!

Thanks KilgoreTrout (nice name by the way)!

And thanks for the information, fed. Congrats on the good news too! Did they mention how many people applied and what their target incoming class would be? Inquiring minds (or at least me hah) want to know.

Has anyone heard anything about MA applicants? Most schools seem to be finalizing the PhD decisions first...

does anyone know what's going on with Mizzou? are they done in English and Creative Writing? I know some people have been accepted here -- have they implied that they're done in any way?

Poeteer,

The DGS told me that the commitee were still deciding on other candidates, but he decided to call me anyway, as they were sure about mine. I got in for the English Ph.D. program, but I saw on the results board that there was someone who got into the Creative writing program as well. You might be hearing this week, it seems.

Another acceptance went up today for Mizzou; anyone here? Congratulations! :)

Not me - mehhh...

So I see there is a waitlist posting for Mizzou...Do you think this means they're done with acceptances (and waitlisting)?? :(

Posted

I got waitlisted for the MA program today; any ideas on how long their waitlist usually is?

Has anyone that's been accepted to the PhD program plan to turn down the offer? And if so, what's your area of specialization?
