personaperson Posted February 16, 2012 Posted February 16, 2012 Went to Hopkins as an undergrad, in the cog sci department. 3.87 GPA. GRE 170 verbal, 158 quant, 5.0 AW. Received apparently "glowing" recommendations from faculty in the department, was encouraged to apply to the grad program, and was hired as an RA in a lab in the dept. Hopkins is the first school to reject me. Five out of the eight programs I applied to have invited me to interview and the other two that didn't were "backup," so maybe they could tell from my PS and anyway I don't much care. But considering the fact that I am apparently a good candidate plus the relationships I have already established with the faculty here I don't really understand what the deal is. The head of the admissions committee comes to my lab meetings. How do I keep working here? This is so awkward. Oh and now in 6 months I have to move out of Baltimore where I have lived my entire life, leaving all my friends, my family, etc. At least it will be to go to a school that actually believes in me.
