Okay, this threw me for a loop. Today, USC added this bit under the"Application Status" section of my application:

"You will receive notification of your admission decision soon via postal mail. Please note that the Office of Admissions provides final decision notifications by letter only. We do not disclose admission decisions via e-mail, telephone, or any other means."

This doesn't remotely jibe with the results survey, where people are getting a lot of emails from USC, especially in the last few days.

Anyone know what the deal is here? I'm assuming rejection, of course, and thanks to the holiday weekend, the soonest I'll get this letter is Tuesday.

Ah, well. That's two unoffical rejections down, three to go.

I think all masters decisions come by post...One tip i've heard is try and log into the camel link (just google it) with your usc id (not the id from your application page) and see if it will let you log in and accept/decline an offer...look at my post about 5 down from here called decision speed. I definitely wouldn't assume that its a reject from it coming by mail, I think most do.

Hi,

I'm applying to the Comparative Literature PhD program, so I'm not sure if the masters thing applies. As for logging in with the USC ID, no luck, I tried a few different places on the USC site and it keeps saying it's not a valid USC ID - this is the one they sent me a few weeks ago.

Anyway, guess I'll have to wait for postal mail... ugh.

Mine came in the mail, followed a week later by an email from the program director making sure that I had gotten the letter. She had told me before that they mail out all the notifications at the same time, but that's for the education program. Obviously, the English people might be different.

Ditto. English might not be the same as Education, but it's been 2 weeks since I received post of my acceptance, but my status online has yet to change from "Under Review: Will Receive by Post". I wouldn't fret, it's just a waiting game from here for USC.

Hey, I got the same message as well: "Your decision notification has been sent to you by post". I tried logging in to the camel link as well, but no luck. Does this mean it is a rejection? I have been waiting for a decision from USC for a long time. I submitted my application in November 2011 and the decision was sent only today.

Not to worry. It literally means they sent you a physical letter in the mail regarding your admission status. So personally I don't think this means any particular yes or no.

Did you not enquire about your status back in March when all the Masters decisions were released? If you applied in November you should've heard a long time ago, i'm sorry to say it doesn't sound like it's likely to be good news. Just wanted to be honest - I hope i'm wrong though! Unless maybe you were on the waitlist and someone has now dropped out.

I did enquire about my application in March. At that time I was told that decisions would be given out all the way up to June-end. I rang them up at the start of this month and I got the same reply. I hope its not bad news :(..btw, are you sure that all decisions for MS were given out in march?
