Andsowego Posted February 19, 2012 Posted February 19, 2012 Since there's already a thread for AERA, I thought I'd start one for CSSE. Who's with me? http://www.csse-scee.ca/conference/
Andsowego Posted February 19, 2012 Author Posted February 19, 2012 Ou... SCÉÉ: Allez-vous? http://www.csse-scee.ca/congres/
wheatGrass Posted February 20, 2012 Posted February 20, 2012 No, AERA it is, although I would actually be able to afford Waterloo, since as of yet I haven't scraped together enough funding to cover my costs for AERA.

Waterloo is actually do-able for me (I didn't go to CSSE last year in NB due to the cost of flights) so I'll be there! I'm in Ontario, so the travel won't involve a flight this time. I'm presenting one individual paper. I did attend/present at CSSE the year before last (at Concordia in Montreal), and it was a good experience overall. I'm really looking forward to the conference this year! Edited February 20, 2012 by Andsowego
wheatGrass Posted February 20, 2012 Posted February 20, 2012 (edited) Ansowego, when you presented in Concordia, had you already begun your PhD program or did you go as a masters student? Both this and AERA are at a kind of awkward time of year for people in between their MA and the start of the PhD, since you have to submit and agree to go before you find out if/where you're going for your PhD. I actually might not have gotten all/any of my notifications by the time AERA rolls around. But there must be a lot of students in this position, so I'm sure my uncertainty isn't unique. I was in my first year of the PhD. I totally see what you're saying about AERA in particular though, since their deadline for submissions is usually June/July, and if you don't know at that point if you're even going to be in a program, it's tricky. The deadline for CSSE submissions is usually in the fall (Oct/Nov), so it's easier to submit since you're already in a program, and have a supervisor to support your work, etc.
