M. David Posted February 21, 2012 Posted February 21, 2012 I got this email from the department, "the CS department at bla bla has reviewed your application for admission to the Ph.D. program and expressed a positive determination; please keep in mind that the final decision for admission to bla bla will need to come from the Graduate Admission Office. Please note that, as per bla bla regulations, a student is officially admitted to a doctoral program only upon completion of the qualifying examination." so does that mean that I'm in and i have a question do you think they will give conditional or regular admission coz my sponsor only accept regular admission 0QuoteMultiQuote
abc123xtc Posted February 21, 2012 Posted February 21, 2012 I would see this as good news but to not get your hopes up just in case.
guttata Posted February 21, 2012 Posted February 21, 2012 The department has accepted you, but you have not been officially accepted by the graduate school yet. The department wants you, you're basically in. I've never seen a graduate school turn down a candidate that a department has recommended. As long as you've met the minimum requirements for admission to the school, go ahead and start getting your hopes up. applyingfromtexas and BruceWayne24 2

Burkis Posted February 25, 2012 Posted February 25, 2012 I also received an email like that (minus the part about the qualifying exam). Was happy to receive it but I will be even happier once I have the official letter in my hand Burkis 1
dcarroll Posted February 25, 2012 Posted February 25, 2012 You are in, congrats! The graduate admissions office will verify your identity and transcripts, and will then send you an official letter. This can take a few weeks so ride it out.
