nimrodel Posted February 10, 2009 Posted February 10, 2009 If someone were to not get in anywhere for a Math PhD this year, how reasonable is it to try again in a year? What could you do in the meantime, since a year of doing nothing Math-related would probably look bad...?
inactive_since_inf Posted February 10, 2009 Posted February 10, 2009 Same question on my mind too. But I'm from a different field. Anyone has thought about Plan B/C/Z ?? Do give your inputs...
Tinyboss Posted February 10, 2009 Posted February 10, 2009 If I didn't get in with funding anywhere, I'd have to get some kind of job for a year. In my off time, I'd do nothing but train for the subject GRE, which is the weakest part of my application this year. I'd also pray for the recession to be shallow and short, so that 2010 won't be even worse than 2009 for admissions.
