poolsofjewels Posted March 15, 2012 Posted March 15, 2012 didn't get in, notified via website. oh well, NYU was my top choice anyway. Same What concentration will you be in at NYU?
coastalvintagechic Posted March 15, 2012 Author Posted March 15, 2012 Didn't get in Sad, it was my first choice. Had a good two hours of mulling over but I think I'm definitely more excited about NYU now--it was my second choice anyhow
zedforzebra Posted March 15, 2012 Posted March 15, 2012 First things first, congratulations to everyone who got in! Secondly, what's the likelihood that a purgatorial placement in the waiting list can somehow jump into the acceptance track? Not very? (Sigh.)

Had a good two hours of mulling over but I think I'm definitely more excited about NYU now--it was my second choice anyhow I didn't get into NYU (my first choice), but was accepted into Columbia magazine writing.... I'll swap you!
coastalvintagechic Posted March 16, 2012 Author Posted March 16, 2012 Sydneysider, I wish! But I didn't even get waitlisted. I felt if I would have expected them to extend the deadline I would have put together a better application. Columbia was my first grad app so I was new to the whole experience (not that it happens for everyone.) Since NYU, USC and Syracuse's were later my CV and SOP were definitely more refined by that point. But things happen for a reason I believe! I'm definitely more excited about NYU--especially after just seeing the picture of the Washington Square monument as my iPhone backround and realizing that is where my school will be, yay! (Though Columbia's campus is just as gorgeous!)
novelgirl Posted March 16, 2012 Posted March 16, 2012 Hi Nikim and Favebad, Congrats to both! Will you guys be at the newly admitted student session in April?

I'm sorry about CU, I know how it feels - I was initially dead set on NYU but got waitlisted and who knows if i'll get in. I'm also international and want the visa process done ASAP, so I'm accepting Columbia. I think things work out for a reason though, and we'll end up being happy wherever we go.
Mangwi Posted May 16, 2012 Posted May 16, 2012 Hi nikim89, Congratulations on your admission to Columbia. I was wondering if you don't mind sharing your stats? I plan to apply to the J-School in the Fall and so I'm trying to get as much information as possible. Any tips?
