  1. FireBird, I don't know IF I'll have better job opportunities in NYC - I do know it's where the magazine industry is based and that CU's career fair is excellent, so i hope it will be the case. What I like about NYU AND Columbia is that they both incorporate the city into their curriculum, so if your immediate plans include moving back to NYC, it might be better for you to stay at NYU.
  2. Journerdalist, I was trying to decide between Medill and Columbia, and CU won out because of the location and course. I'm doing magazine journalism, and there is really no better place to be than NYC. Also, it seems that Columbia integrates digital media in its classes - there's also the Delacorte lecture series for magazine writers. Honestly, it depends on your concentration, but for me, it was a no-brainer. And I didn't get into Berkeley haha!
  3. haha coastalvintagechic, I changed my phone background to the Low Library steps! It helps you get more excited! I'm sorry about CU, I know how it feels - I was initially dead set on NYU but got waitlisted and who knows if i'll get in. I'm also international and want the visa process done ASAP, so I'm accepting Columbia. I think things work out for a reason though, and we'll end up being happy wherever we go.
  4. Novelgirl i don't know, depends if i can get time off work. I'm definitely gonna try! you?
  5. Hi, So I want to decline Medill's offer of admission, but in the packet and online, I have found no way to do this. I know you pay your fee by the 23rd if you want to get in, but isn't there another way to decline instead of just not paying? BU and CUNY had forms, and I had to e-mail the journalism department at Texas - but there isn't any clear way to decline Medill. =/ Does anyone know?
  6. I chose Columbia for the location, if I didn't get into Columbia (i got waitlisted at NYU) i don't know what I would have done. I was considering Medill, but i want to concentrate in magazine journalism, and NYC is perfect for that. That's basically what motivated me to choose - but then, it depends on your specialization.
  7. karmapolice, are you definitely choosing Columbia? I also got into Medill, but i wanted to be in NYC, especially for a magazine concentration. And I got waitlisted at NYU, so I'm just accepting Columbia
  8. novelgirl, I'm magazine too! But full time We'll be studying together!
  9. - COLUMBIA JOURNALISM SCHOOL CLASS OF 2013!!! I guess things work out :)

  10. Got into Columbia so thrilled!! Definitely going there.
  11. I didnt check my e-mail, but a decision was posted. I GOT IN!
  12. Is it definitely today?! it's almost 5pm NY Time and nothing..
  13. coastalvintagechic, I got an e-mail from the director. I don't think you can see it on the app. And thank you!
  14. got into CUNY with funding and Syracuse as well. so far: Accepted: CUNY, Syracuse, UTexas at Austin, UNC, BU, Medill Waitlisted: NYU (Magazine) - first choice so i hope someone rejects Waiting: Columbia and USC
  15. - hoping someone will reject the NYU magazine concentration =(. Really want to go.

  16. My friend told me NYU accepts about 300 people through 10 concentrations. So slightly smaller.
  17. Yes actually I am, but now i am reconsidering going to grad school at all and postponing by a year if I don't get in. But she said second half of april, and my decision needs to be made by the 24th, so I just COULD hear back before that decision needs to be made.
  18. an international got rejected today, according to the forum. We should hear back soon!
  19. Hi coffeeplease, No, actually the NYU program director told me that she makes all her decisions on the wait list in the second half of April. So I'm not sure when I should send her the e-mail expressing my continued interest. Thanks for the help!
  20. Hi guys, As you guys should know on my rant haha, I got waitlisted at NYU for the magazine concentration. The program director was very nice about it, and I think i have a shot provided someone doesn't want to go. So this is my plea to everybody who MAY be thinking against going - it is my first choice and i would go there in A HEARTBEAT. Just a plea! And if you think it isn't a good fit for you for whatever reason (location, program, funding), I would REALLY appreciate it if you let them know as soon as you could. Thank you everyone!
  21. Last year, Columbia made ALL decisions on 15th March. SOON GUYS! coastalvintagechic, I think the interview went well, she seemed really nice and I didn't fumble at all! Haha but we'll just see now. Who knows?
