  1. Hi everyone, Reading this topic has been very helpful and given me a lot of hope. My situation is with NYU, my top choice for magazine journalism. The head of the department e-mailed me and gave me my status, calling me an "outstanding potential candidate" and someone she "would love to have in her graduate program if space becomes available." Now i have no idea how close I am to the top of the waitlist, but it seems positive enough and no one else has been waitlisted for my program on the forum. I e-mailed her almost immediately, telling her that NYU was my first choice (it is!) and that I would definitely like to be considered at a later time. She said they make decisions on their wait list in the second half of april. Should i e-mail later telling her I am still interested and that I would still like to be considered (around the 15th, when decisions have been made), or will that irritate her? I'm an international student so i can't visit, but I want to do everything I can to increase my chances of acceptance. Any tips? Thanks again for this thread guys, really gives me some hope! And good luck to all you wait-listers!
  2. Waitlisted at NYU. People who don't want to go, please reject!
  3. I'm wait-listed. If anyone doesn't want to go please reject!! A bit upset but it's better than an outright rejection so I guess its not terrible.
  4. I applied to NYU, Columbia, USC, Northwestern, Syracuse, University ofTexas at Austin, UNC, CUNY and BU. ( a lot!) So far heard back from NWU, UT-Austin, UNC and BU. Got into them Not heard a word from NYU, so I think that means a rejection is on its way I hope not though. Skype interview with USC tomorrow. No word from any others either.
  5. Thanks! Let's see what happens.. getting a bit worried!
  6. coastalvintagechic, I also applied to the Magazine Concentration, which is why I'm so worried. I'm also an international student so I don't know what's going on.
  7. I haven't heard back from NYU yet at all! Should I be worried?
  8. I applied to USC and saw that someone already got a decision, but I was contacted for a Skype interview today. Has anyone else been contacted? Any tips on how to prepare?
  9. I think you will be fine. Maybe e-mail the admissions office?
  10. Who knows..I filled in the survey anyway! I went there for undergrad and it's my dream school - I hope I get in! Admission decisions should be out around the 15th, according to previous years' survey results.
  11. Maybe that's why? Mine had an admissions decision available thankfully got in!
  12. Hi guys, I didn't get an e-mail to check the website, but the results survey said that someone had gotten in so I checked the website myself. Decisions are up, so good luck!
  13. coastalvintagechic, were you contacted for an interview?
  14. Same! Because I applied in February, so any news now would be very soon? I was told by my interviewer that I'd know my mid-March - early April - has that changed?
  15. Yup, got the survey too. I assume they send it to everyone, boo!
  16. who got in? i looked at the results and it said "other - got an email survey" =/
  17. So i looked on the NYU website and they say that they don't require interviews for admission, but a friend of mine was recently contacted for one. Has anyone else been contacted for an interview? Does this mean she has a better chance than I do? Or have people been admitted even without interviews? This is really worrying me, since I haven't heard anything since I submitted my app back in december.
  18. that's really weird, i'm not sure what that could mean..i assume it indicates admission, or why would you be a finalist? Last year NYU and Columbia were both mid March. SO NERVOUS!!
  19. let me know what happens! I'm pretty much in the same boat.
  20. same. did you apply to columbia? waiting on columbia and nyu now..
  21. me too!!! Did you hear back from anywhere else? are you definitely going?
