annieca Posted February 29, 2012 Posted February 29, 2012 Question - are you allowed to be a full-time grad student before graduating with your undergrad degree? What do you do if your offer is conditional of your last semester's grades? So here's the situation: I'm doing my last year of undergrad in Wales and their semester ends the 1st of June. According to my alma mater that means I'm a Summer graduate. Summer graduates are officially Carroll grads towards the middle of August. If a program starts before that, I won't officially have graduated from my alma mater. Thanks!
R Deckard Posted February 29, 2012 Posted February 29, 2012 Most of the programs I am considering say "we need a copy of your baccalaureate transcript before the end of your first semester here."
OldDome Posted March 6, 2012 Posted March 6, 2012 (edited) I think that what you should do is if there's a program that does start before your official graduation, talk to the people in the department. Explain your situation and ask what the rules are. If you explain that you are done, have passed everything it's just that commencement isn't official until a certain date in August they may make an exception for you. I wouldn't let it stop you from applying somewhere because of when their program starts. Don't assume it'll preclude you unless you are actually told by the program "There's no way that will be possible." Edited March 6, 2012 by OldDome
annieca Posted March 13, 2012 Author Posted March 13, 2012 Thanks OldDome. I figured it wouldn't be a problem but I've found colleges/universities to be so extremely picky sometimes that I still wondered.
juilletmercredi Posted March 21, 2012 Posted March 21, 2012 You can probably get a letter from the dean of your original school saying that you have successfully completed all requirements for the baccalaureate degree and will officially receive the degree this August.
