Quick question for Colorado acceptees: Did you receive a phone call (other than the acceptance phone call) from the department? I have a message from a Colorado area code, but can't quite make out what's being said. Thanks!

Yes, I got a call from the dept chair at the end of last week.

I lived in Boulder with a large (Bernese Mtn Dog...~100lbs) canine friend for three years of my undergrad. I can give you some tips on places to look into (an others to avoid) if you're interested. Also, I've done a regular commute from Denver to Boulder and from Boulder to Denver at different points in my life and it really isn't bad at all, even at high traffic times.

Thanks! I'll definitely PM you if I decided to go there (not like I have a ton of options right now...). Everything I've heard about Boulder is that it's a great dog town and my winter/snow/mountain loving pup will be very happy. And, hey, as a beer drinker I don't think I can go wrong there!

Does anyone know if they make their decisions for Masters and PhDs at different times? I really hope so, but I don't feel like it is going to happen for me ?

I am also an applicant to the MA program at CU, and was told I would have my decision before March 15th. In the past, they have notified the Masters class via postal mail, so I wouldn't be worried if you have not received any notification so far. I would assume they will send the notifications out some time this week, if they expect it to arrive next week. Clearly, this knowledge does not stop me from obsessively checking my account/email/mailbox in the meantime lol.

Also, if it's anything like last year, MA's do get notified pretty late, despite what the department says. That was me, and I was just lucky enough to already be on campus, strolling by casually, asking about those postal notifications they kept promising to have mailed out this week, then the next week, then the following week... I got my letter on March 16th, and that was only because they were able to hand it to me rather than post it.

I just declined Boulder's offer of acceptance to their PhD in English. I was coming in as a British Romanticist. Really hard decision. I hope my declining of the offer helps someone. Peace.
