SimpleeS Posted March 15, 2012 Posted March 15, 2012 I obtained my bachelor's degree in public health about a year and a half ago. I am doing post-bacc studies right now to get a feel of grad school and figure which direction I want to go in PH. I would like to gain actual experience in PH, and not volunteer/practicum experience. A professor of mine recommended that I apply for jobs in PH, but he made it sound so easy. It seems as if you need experience to gain experience, and I have NONE. I had a horrible practicum placement in undergrad and I only have hospital volunteer experience right now. I've seen tons of jobs with requirements of 2+ years experience, but none for entry-level. Anybody have any advice for me?
darse1112 Posted March 15, 2012 Posted March 15, 2012 Volunteer would be the best way to pick what you rally like without obligation. I am not sure which region of the country you are at now, but in California, most public health jobs require either high proficiency or ability to speak another language in native speaker level.
bubbaface Posted March 15, 2012 Posted March 15, 2012 "It seems as if you need experience to gain experience" Many people gain this experience through volunteering. If part time volunteering isn't your thing your options are limited. Any particular reason you don't want to volunteer?
