spmoran Posted April 4, 2012 Posted April 4, 2012 I'll be headed to BU as well! Has anyone applied for the relocation stipend? If so, do you know how long it should be until we hear back about these?
Wishing Posted April 5, 2012 Posted April 5, 2012 Cool, excited to be there with you! I applied for the relocation stipend when I submitted my deposit about a month ago. I haven't hard anything about it yet but I'll definitely post an update if I do so that others can get a sense of the timeline.
NatalieMSW Posted April 8, 2012 Posted April 8, 2012 I am still deciding on BU and am very mixed. While the program is fantastic the cost of living is also very pricey. DU and Portland State are cheaper options with DU giving me a half scholarship. I think BU only offered me 9,000/year. I'm just trying to weight the pros and cons between the three schools. Can anyone help me out?
Wishing Posted April 8, 2012 Posted April 8, 2012 Natalie, In general the advice is go to the least expensive place, which definitely includes the cost of living. Are you going for a clinical focus? If so, I'd choose the least expensive school. In general I think it's only worth it to pay more if there is something very specific at one school that you absolutely can't get someplace else. For me, I consider a well-developed macro program a necessity, since most programs don't have one. For most other people this logic doesn't make sense because the clinical options (aside from something very specific and specialized) are pretty much identical between schools. Good luck making your decision! NatalieMSW 1
SofieCat Posted April 22, 2012 Author Posted April 22, 2012 Received my emailed acceptance from BU yesterday! The wording on it was funny though. It had very strong "acceptance" language, then towards the middle it said due to the number of applicants this year I was wait listed for fall 2012 and I'll find out in a month the final status. Should there not be enough room this year, I can defer admissions to 2013. No wait list number. No info about financial aid. It all seemed very vague. So, this is one hurdle down at least!
cab3be Posted June 15, 2012 Posted June 15, 2012 Hey, congrats! Waitlisting is at least a step in the right direction; any word yet on your acceptance to the program or not? I'll be attending the MA Psych program in the Fall, and as an out-of-stater, I'm always up to meet a fellow incoming BU grad.
