Anyone else in a similar boat? I do as well. Sciences and humanities here. I don't regret it though. I figure a field change will make me at least a little more well rounded!
slothrop99 Posted February 16, 2009 Posted February 16, 2009 Mine is completely unrelated...but i made the wrong choice!!!! A little worried since I have no math background and no econ background. Anyone else in a similar boat? I was actually an English major in college. Took one calc class as a freshman and got a B-, no econ or stats classes either. But that was years ago. I'm now enrolled in macroecon, microecon, and stats at a community college, and I'm banking on my WE and high GREs to get me into an IR/MPP program. The general sentiment on this board and others is that work experience tends to trump any lack of econ/math courses, but I suppose we'll see very soon. Good luck!
policy_applicant Posted February 16, 2009 Posted February 16, 2009 I majored in English too. I took micro, macro, and stats though (A, A, and then I took calc at a community college after graduation (A). I just had no idea what I wanted to do when I started undergrad and I knew I really liked to read, so I majored in English. That's exactly like me! Although I finished one class short of the English major. I switched to an econ major (from a minor) my last semester and squeezed in six classes to get it done. Actually, if I hadn't taken calc as an undeclared freshman, I wouldn't have been able to make the switch. I ended up with a pretty solid lineup (for policy school): intermediate micro and macro, calc and stats.
