Hello. My friend received this email (he asked me to post it here) and we are wondering what can it mean. We both applied to the PhD program in cs at CU but I did not receive the email. Can it be that they accepted him and added him to mailing list?

Thanks

The e-mail looks like it could be for prospective (not yet applied) grad students, but the e-mail list (seasgradmit = seas graduate admit) is enough to convince me that your friend got in.

He says his application result on the website is still pending though. Is there an explanation for this?

is he in new york? pending means they are still considering him, as i know quite a few people that got rejects from columbia already.

i also know a few people that got accepted and that is not how they did it. those people get interviews and they got accepted shortly thereafter.

I think it's completely unrelated. I got an e-mail or two like that recently telling me to apply to schools I had already applied to. I think the e-mail address means SEAS grad admissions, not grad admits. I wouldn't consider this an admissions decision either way yet, so you're still in the clear! Just my two cents.

I'm guessing this has no bearing on the admission decision whatsoever. The email is most unlike any open house email that I've received so far. fwiw, my Columbia application also has status listed as 'pending'.

How important is a good score in AGRE CS for the MS program Columbia? Does anyone know the range of AGRE CS scores for successful applicants to the MS program in Columbia ?
