diamondqueen Posted March 26, 2012 Posted March 26, 2012 Does anyone know if the NSF applications for the coming year require GRE scores? I am going to be out of the country for almost six months starting soon...and I was planning on applying for this but I haven't yet taken the GREs.
uksawfly Posted March 26, 2012 Posted March 26, 2012 I've only applied the past two years (neither of which required or even allowed GRE scores) but you used to be able to put them into your application if you wanted to. I don't think it was ever required, per se. If someone who applied before the 2010-2011 round is still around they can give you a more definite answer.
Krypton Posted March 26, 2012 Posted March 26, 2012 Actually, this past application cycle was the first to not allow GRE scores at all (and I'd be willing to bet it will remain this way). Before, it was optional but recommended.
Robin G. Walker Posted May 22, 2012 Posted May 22, 2012 It is my understanding that the NSF GRFP program has discontinued that requirement entirely. You will not need GRE scores.
Eigen Posted May 22, 2012 Posted May 22, 2012 It went from required, to optional but recommended, to optional but not recommended, to disallowed. I very highly doubt they'll be brining the score requirements back.
Bimmerman Posted May 23, 2012 Posted May 23, 2012 I didn't need them when I won in '11. Probably a good thing too, my scores were middling-poor at best.
