lillymaginta Posted April 4, 2012 Posted April 4, 2012 I emailed the graduate coordinator asking about my status and here what I got : The Graduate School has received all the decisions from the Admissions Committee and you will receive a letter with their decision from the Graduate School. Is it a rejection? and why they don't just reply back and give you the final decision. Any ideas?
nikkirod2001 Posted April 4, 2012 Posted April 4, 2012 no it is not a rejection, they are just letting you know that you will be receiving their decision in the mail.
lillymaginta Posted April 4, 2012 Author Posted April 4, 2012 nikkirod2001 Thanks for the reply. But what about the online account why they don't just update it? Also I called the graduate office 2 days later and they said they didn't receive anything from the department, I am just confused and nervous and the same time.
margarets Posted April 4, 2012 Posted April 4, 2012 Remember that universities are massively bureaucratic. If they can add more useless, illogical steps to a straightforward process, they will. And the last thing they concern themselves with is the emotional wear and tear on the student. Hang in there. bluebunny, rockandroll, R Deckard and 1 other 3 1
K.Ash Posted April 4, 2012 Posted April 4, 2012 Don't assume its a rejection. Back in February, I was really sweating my University of Maryland admission. They said they'd notify us around like 2/7 or something like that. I called the department 2x and they said that they were behind schedule. Second time, though, they added that they had made decisions and were mailing out letters in 2-3 days. They said almost the exact thing you wrote to me, and gave no indication if I got in or not. I got the letter in the mail before my online info was updated. Some schools just do things a bit odd.
lillymaginta Posted April 5, 2012 Author Posted April 5, 2012 (edited) margarets thank you for the support! I really appreciate it even if I don't get in. And K.Ash believe it or not it is UMD too!! and they told me the same thing that I would hear back within a specific time frame and I never got a reply. And after I emailed the department they sent me the above notice. It is my top choice though, so fingers crossed! thank you for the quick reply! Edited April 5, 2012 by lillymaginta
lillymaginta Posted April 5, 2012 Author Posted April 5, 2012 K.Ash could you please tell me how long did it take to get your letter in the mail from the time you called?
K.Ash Posted April 5, 2012 Posted April 5, 2012 K.Ash could you please tell me how long did it take to get your letter in the mail from the time you called? If I can remember correctly, I spoke to someone on a Thursday or Friday and got the letter on a Tuesday I think. Good luck!
