Eclectic4
Hi everyone! I am currently considering a masters in public admin. However, I wanted to know how easy (or hard) it is to find a job afterwards. Further, do any of you hold an MPA or someone you know, and if so, what kind of work are you doing? The two programs I got into are well-regarded so I suspect the job prospects are at least decent. Please help!
Eclectic4
Can we get some takers or thoughts on this issue? I know a lot of people applying to MPA's, especially at costly uni's, are struggling with these questions.
cl6050a
Hi! I just saw your post about MPA's and job opportunities and figured I'd reply as I'll be receiving my MPA next month. I have a full-time job in my field (my concentration is policy and management with a focus in health policy and I currently work for a health policy/advocacy non-profit). The fact that I was getting my degree did actually help me to get the job I currently have as well as the internship that I did before I got my job. I am located in DC so there are a fair amount of people with MPA's and certainly a lot of job opportunities for people who have one. Most of my friends and others who I started the program with have jobs already or have offers for jobs once we finish (I'd say about 85-90% - some of those without are continuing to get their Ph.D.'s). And we all have jobs in different sectors. My school is costly but with the money I make at my job it won't be too difficult to pay back the loans. I hope this is helpful! Glad to answer any other questions!

Glad to answer any other questions! Thank you so much. I am currently down to the wire in deciding between an MPA at UPenn versus an MPA (in development) from Columbia. Do you know people working in D.C. coming from these schools or have any views on the two?
