My application status is still under review and it is April third week, does long wait mean that am I in rejection list?

any words about how far CSU Fullerton is good for studies in Computer Science? Thank You.

My PhD in Computer Science application is still under review too as of today, I have high hopes on this, since I have friends in Southern California, and I know the area very well.

People tell me that "no news" is good news. It's easier for them to reject you than to admit you.

I have the same situation. Well one of my seniors in UCI told me to take as a rejection. UCI CS department has already made a list for the accepted ones and the ones for waiting list. They have been interviewd in February and March. So if you are not in those two lists, you were not cotacted and as you were not contacted, its just a matter of time to get the rejection letter. I am just waiting for the rejection letter. I applied after contacting a professor, my POI. He encouraged me to apply and answered my mail several times. But now he is lost. He found someone better surely. So guys take it easy and CHEERS :)

Maybe it is a rejection and maybe not. Rejections are quick. If some people already got rejected, it's because they didn't pass the first screening, sorta speak.

It's faster to send rejections than to send admits. I am not having high hopes.

Does UC Irvine send notices by the Email or by the regular mail? I have already got the rejections from UC Berkeley, Georgia Tech and Vanderbilt by mail, and they all seem like generic emails.

From the survery page of the site, I did not find any UCI CS applicants to be rejected. It is April 19, so I think the accepted ones mader their choice and if offers available, those are being distributed to the ones in the waitlist. I am not hoping right at this moment. Better keep my expectation level low. This will help me to accept any kind of news. If miracle happens, then its a blessing and if not, its normal :). Addola, hope u get in there. I was interested in Computer Vision. What about you?

If offers are available..the priority is given to students on waitlist..but wht about the students who are not even in the waitlist category ? I did not received any mail about waitlist option .

I Thank you for all responses above..

I am interested in Human Computer Interaction. I have done my Masters in University of Southern California, but I did not do any research, or create good relationships with the professors over there, which was my mistake.

I sent an email to UC Irvine (April 9th) asking about whether my file was complete, since it shows that it wasn't complete. They told me that it will be reviewed but they don't have official TOEFL, but I can waive the TOEFL because I finished an advanced degree from an American University..

They also told me

"The admissions committee is currently reviewing applications and will notify applicants between March-May 2012."

Someone just posted (April 19th) in the "Results Search" that they got accepted for MS in Computer Science in UC Irvine...

You??

No..still status is under review..yesterday I called dept office and asked about my application status..they said..still my application is under review files and it will take another 2 to 3 weeks for decision.. I stopped checking my status daily....

California is funny. Higher applcation fees, earlier application deadline and now the application under review. I have applied to USC and UCI. I got results from other ones but these twos are my earliest applications. Actually I took those as rejects. So waiting for a miracle :D

I did my Master's in USC. I remember their deadlines for MS were set later in June! USC didn't require recommendation letters or Statement of Purpose, so it was really all about GPA & GRE, in other words, a computer can make the decision!

The weather in Southern California is awesome all year long, you would want to live there (although rent is very expensive)

Hi,

I didn't apply to UC Irvine and my major is not CS. However, I would like to share my experience. Universities usually do not care rejected students so much. Therefore, they usually postpone sending rejection letters/e-mails to those students. First, highly ranked students are informed and then students in waitlist. Having receiving no rejection letter doesn't always indicate that no news is good news. It depends on the university which you apply. On the other hand, there is no difference between applying for a job and a position in a university. That is, universities always want to have a big application pool to both make money and to find the best students. Therefore, if prof. answers your email and encourage you to apply, it doen't mean that you will be definitely admitted. God luck to everyone.

April, 26th, and no mail was sent. I have already selected another better program, but anyway, I want a response!! As easy as sending an e-mail..

Baer, maybe your point is logic for a high-ranked university (CMU-UBC-MIT)..., but a low-ranked program like UCI-which in many cases is the "safe" application- should be faster and provide better feedback. If you are accepted in a better program, you will not be likely to change your mind if the acceptance is sent in later april.. Therefore, good students will not be likely to accept the late offer..

just my thoughts--

Good luck to everyone. Big mistake to change Gatech with UCI.. at least I would have received better feedback.

In the survey page, some one mentioned that s/he had been rejected from PhD program of UCI. So at last they are rejecting. So guys, its time :D .

I still didn't get my decision from UC Irvine. I just got an accepted at Clemson, so it's not like my last hope now.

It is not necessarily a rejection. They might accept some students so late, so keep your hope up.
