alraune Posted May 2, 2012 Posted May 2, 2012 I was accepted to a grad program at NYU (Tisch) off the wait-list this week and it's my dream program. I was offered $18,000 in funding through scholarships, a sponsored internship, and work study. I'm rather green when it comes to the subject of grad school funding, and I know that NYU generally doesn't offer much aid, but the hefty price tag definitely has me concerned (especially since I already have around 30K in undergrad loan debt) I suppose I have a few questions: Is this a typical financial offer from NYU? Is it appropriate to negotiate aid when you've been accepted off the wait list, or is this considered ungrateful? Should I be thrilled about my offer as it stands? I'm the first in my immediate family to get this far in higher education, so I'm really unfamiliar with the territory. I appreciate any suggestions and advice.
Trilogyfan Posted March 29, 2013 Posted March 29, 2013 Hi Alraune, No idea if you'll get this as this thread seems dead, but I am currently on the waitlist for fall 2013 and your post gave me hope about funding. I wonder what program you were accepted to and what you decided to do? If you get this I would appreciate any info. Thanks!
Nerd_For_Life Posted March 30, 2013 Posted March 30, 2013 I think it is really unlikely that you will be able to negotiate a better funding package if you're in off the wait list, but it can never hurt to try!
