hello everyone

i am an international student

just recieved email from Maryland University

"The University of Maryland's School of Public Policy wishes to talk with you as part of our admission decision process.

Ms. Taryn Faulkner, Assistant Director for Admissions and Student Affairs, would like to speak with you via telephone. She has asked me to set an appointment time for her to talk with you on Thursday, February 26th at 7:30 a.m. (USA Eastern Standard Time).

I look forward to hearing from you.

Bonnie F. Zager

Administrative Assistant, Office of Student Affairs

School of Public Policy

University of Maryland"

Can anyone give me some advice on the interview of MPP, UMD?

Does anyone have similar experience?

I noticed that some students have gotten the admission from UMD without interview. Why I have to take an interview? IS this becasue I am an international student?

Thank you very much:)

I'm an international student too, and I got an admission letter without having an interview (at least, not yet). So I don't think it's to do with your not being from the US. Maybe they want to discuss your application in more detail? (or maybe they're going to give you a fat aid package and wanted to tell you personally :) )

It might be that they just want to see how fluent you are in English. This is a big worry for admissions, because international students often have nice TOEFL scores and great essays -- but that's because they've been able to prepare - or in some cases even have others help them write their essay.

Thank you. I got the decision about a week back by e-mail - they sent me a scanned copy of the letter which they sent by snail mail (which was dated 12th Feb and still hasn't reached me :) ) I've been offered a stipend and some tuition remission, which together will cover most of my tuition for the first year.
