Fulbright 2009-2010

Just opened up my letter- it was business sized with one sheet of paper so I was suspicious from the beginning. It said I'm officially and alternate to Germany for the ETA program (which means 6 to 8 more weeks of waiting!) I just don't know if I can take that much more suspense...

To those waiting to hear about a research Fulbright to Germany - I emailed Charles Restrepo on April 2 and he said that I would receive notification of my status within 7-10 business days (that would mean hearing, at the latest, by April 17 - but I live on the East Coast near New York, so hopefully much sooner than that). So it definitely sounds like we'll be getting letters in the mail shortly.

Also, has anyone heard about a research grant to Switzerland or France? I have classmates who applied to those countries and who haven't heard anything yet.

So it is Monday- How many people are chasing down the mailman today? I'm waiting on the Netherlands and I'm a non-traditional student. I have to prepare a family of 4 to live abroad for a year. anyone hear back from any Sub-Saharan African countries/ know when they send out letters?

i applied to namibia for a full research grant. have not heard back yet, but heard from an 08-09 fulbrighter there that he heard back the second weekend in april.

I've just received note from IEE that I've been awarded a Research Grant to Ecuador.

Last week I was an alternate, and as of today's mail, I'm in (same manilla envelope that everyone else seems to have received). Very excited here! Would love to connect with the other FB Ecuador folks who have posted.

Has anyone heard anything from the UK yet? I'm freaking out because I know people have said that they only mail letters out on Wednesdays for Europe but I was just wondering if anyone had gotten accepted yet.

i didn't get it - not too shocked though it was nice to be a finalist. i won't be applying next year as i will still be going to England next year for research for a few months in the spring. i'm at the research stage of my dissertation so no point to applying again the year later ...

I just thought I'd let German applicants know that I received a letter from New York notifying me I am an alternate to Germany for the Research Grant. I live on the West Coast and they wrote that all grantees should know shortly, if not simultaneously. Good luck to everyone!

Has anyone heard about the ETA's for South Asia? I applied to Nepal and I'm dying to know..they called me after I applied and asked me if I would be interested in anyother south asian countries..so how knows where I could end up..I just wanna know

i applied to a research grant in Nepal, and i still haven't heard. about 2 weeks ago i was told applicants to Nepal would be notified in mid-April, so i think we still have 1-2 weeks of waiting left. did they really call you and ask if you would be interested in other South Asian countries? that seems like a really strange thing to ask... and i never got a phone call of any kind.

To anyone else who got good news from the Fulbright Commission regarding an ETA in Germany, I have a question. You know how they told us we need to write or email both the Fulbright Commission and PAD to tell them we're accepting the grant? Well, who exactly should we email? There's what appears to be a general email address for Fulbright in Germany, but there's no contact info for the PAD. Any ideas?

--I applied for a teaching grant, that could be the difference..they said they received more funding and then i saw an offical release that there was more funding between India and USA...
