beet-nik Posted August 31, 2012 Posted August 31, 2012 Hey guys, I'm considering applying to Florida Atlantic University for their M.A. program. Has anyone here applied or considering applying? I would really like to know a bit more about their funding (website says 80% waiver and a $9k stipend, which probably isn't enough to live on, but hey at least it's money). How many people are offered assistantships? Any tips on professors with an interest in postmodernism? Also, I will be applying with stats that are just "meh" (no way else to describe them). 3.15 overall, 3.7 in the major, and 3.55 for the last two years. Re-taking the GRE because I only scored 153 verbal the first time around, and will be taking the subj. test soon as well. Putting most of my energy into my writing sample. Thanks in advance!
asleepawake Posted September 1, 2012 Posted September 1, 2012 (edited) Sending you a PM. I have mostly good things to say, but I'd still prefer to send a message. Edited September 1, 2012 by asleepawake beet-nik 1
phku Posted February 24, 2013 Posted February 24, 2013 I applied there as well, but for the mathematics phd. I think I should be getting some kind of decision next week. Fingers crossed!
beet-nik Posted February 24, 2013 Author Posted February 24, 2013 I was told I'll be hearing via snail mail in the next few weeks. Good luck!
CabinFever Posted March 13, 2013 Posted March 13, 2013 First of all, beet-nik, I love your handle. So, I applied to FAU for English Lit. I'm a little worried about it. Have you found anything out? They offered me exactly what you posted above, but like I said, I'm nervous about this. Hope you heard good news!
beet-nik Posted March 13, 2013 Author Posted March 13, 2013 CabinFever - thank you! I applied for English Lit as well and was rejected about a week ago. (But it's okay...I got into my first and backup schools!) So if you haven't heard, I'd assume you're waitlisted or on your way to acceptance, considering I saw some acceptances on the board already.
