bodaos Posted September 15, 2012 Posted September 15, 2012 I have obtained decent scores for verbal and quantitative sections, but I only got a 3 on my writing section. I am applying for masters in CS or Math this year and I am wondering if it is worth the effort to retake the General GRE just for the writing? I need some honest advice. Thank you!
sareth Posted September 15, 2012 Posted September 15, 2012 I don't think so. If you were applying to rhetoric and composition programs it would be worth it. For operations research and stats? No. In your position I'd focus on making sure the writing in your applications (personal statement, etc.) is strong. Good luck! 3point14 1

Thank you! if you scored below 90 pecentile in any section then I would retake as the chances you score at or above 90 percentile exist with improving AWA. Otherwise I would think and possibly wouldn't retake the test. Since you are aiming tech. area, preferably your math should be >= 90 percentile.
