My list is long and I need to cut it significantly (8 schools max), and would love inside info. Also open to other schools that are a *seriously* perfect match based on my interests. I don't want to move to the East Coast, so tho I'm attracted to NYU and U of Maryland especially, I think the east coast school have got to go...

My advice: Contact the DGS at schools your interested in and ask if your research interests would fit.

Have you considered University of Arizona? They have a program in Gender and Women's Studies. Also how are the emails coming along with current students and faculty?
