Hey! Does anyone know if people can accept both the Ford Predoc and the NSF GRFP? Wondering what the chances of folks turning down the Ford for the NSF is.... It is a lot more money. I got one of the you're an honorable mention and will be reviewed again if someone declines emails! Thanks.

Hello all, I've been admitted to one Cultural Studies PhD and one Gender Studies PhD. The Gender Studies program is one of my top choices (UCLA!). I haven't yet received an official letter, and want to play it cool. BUT! - I also feel like a should have a billion questions. Funding aside (which they can't give me info on yet), what kind of questions should I be asking faculty, current students, etc.? I'm just so freaking thrilled that I'm in I don't know where to start! Thanks.

I'm applying to PhD programs for Fall 2013. While this is something I've wanted to do for a long time (and I have a now or never feeling about it), I also want to have a baby in the next few years. Any personal experience out there? I'd love to hear from you.

Many schools also require a "Personal History" statement in addition to an SOP. If this is the case for any of your schools, mention it here. If not, I would briefly and articulately demonstrate the connection between your experience and your goals/research interests in your SOP.
