Help with MS Graduation Scenario

Hi

I have a question: If my date of graduation from a Masters program is May 2013 (I've filled it out in multiple forms here and there) - am I allowed to get a co-op/internship that lasts six months from January to June?

I guess what I'm really asking is can graduation be postponed because I will still have a course left, if I plan on going on that 6-month internship? I really really wanted to do an internship in the summer, but had to go back home for some family obligations.

Also, if the answer to the above question is 'no', then I will not have any internships down on my resume. Is that a VERY bad thing?

Appreciate any feedback, in fact waiting desperately ;)

Thanks!

Why does it have to be a 6 month internship? Could you not do a 3 month internship after graduating?

Also, are you not going to work after graduation? An internship in the last few months of your final year may not be the correct path here - why not just go straight for a full time job?

It's not a very bad thing to not have any internships but it is bad. Hopefully you have valid reasons for not doing any - but be aware that a lot of undergraduates will start accruing internships after their first year of study.

If your school is any bit like mine, you can withdraw your intent to graduate and then refile in a subsequent semester. Talk to your department and your advisor now.
